Choosing your reception stage décor, six decisions.
The reception stage is where most of your photos will be taken, so it deserves careful thought. These six decisions shape almost every stage we design.

1. Start with the venue
A banquet hall with a high ceiling suits tall floral arches and chandeliers. A lawn or beach venue calls for designs that work in the evening breeze and look good at sunset. Share the venue early so the design fits the space.
2. Pick a colour palette
Many couples match the stage to their outfits. Share a photo of the clothes or a few colours you love, and let the florals and drapes follow.

The best stages have a clear centre: a carved sofa, a floral arch, a name board or a statement backdrop. Everything else supports it.
4. Plan the lighting
Lighting changes everything after dark. Warm washes, fairy lights and chandeliers make florals glow; coloured uplighting adds drama. Plan it with the décor, not afterwards.
Guests remember the entrance; photos remember the stage.
5. Don't forget the entrance and aisle
The entrance is your guests' first impression, and the aisle leads their eyes to you. A floral arch, a welcome board or a lit walkway sets the tone before anyone reaches the stage.
6. Design for the photos
Leave enough depth on the stage for family groups, and ask your decorator and photographer to agree on where the best angles are.
